Most managers are engaged in some form of project management. Many however do
not need to be fully qualified Project Mangers. For this reason Eric created
"Thinking Like A Project Manger". This two day programme provides the
fundamental skills and knowledge needed to plan, set up, control and complete
most small to medium sized business projects. One of the skills
it provides is an ability to talk to professional project managers in their own
language.
It will give delegates the skills they need to develop their project plans,
develop clear deliverables, communicate the plan to others and control the plan
whether working alone or as part of a larger team.
It is therefore invaluable for anyone who has
responsibility for controlling a project through other people. The module
concentrates on the hard skills associated with project management. The soft
skills needed, can be obtained by participating in one of our people skills
programmes such as "Working through
people".
We begin by examining what a project is and what it
is not. Delegates are therefore able to decide whether they should be
approaching their task from the perspective of Project Management or Operations
Management. We then introduce the concept of “Project Lifecycles”. This
concept provides a framework for the various actions required to successfully
complete a project, and when they should be undertaken. We use this framework to
examine the building blocks of any successful project. These are:
As
we progress through the programme delegates will complete various activities to
ensure that they are beginning to think in project management terms.
